Dyeing to Weave
This seminar is designed for colour and texture weavers who want to incorporate hand dyed/variegated yarn into their weaving. Production weavers who want to differentiate their work by using hand-dyed yarn and rigid heddle weavers will also love this seminar.
This seminar is a presentation of ideas and examples of incorporating hand-dyeing as a component of weaving, which I compiled through 15 years of experience as a production weaver. By attending this class, participants will gain insights about how to use hand-dyeing effectively in their weaving –whether they are a beginner or advanced weaver! Many examples will be shown as slides and actual woven samples that utilize various amounts of variegated yarn. Considerations for colour choices will also be discussed.
Examples will include: using variegated yarn for warp; using variegated yarn for weft; combining multiple variegated yarns; combining solid and variegated yarns; easy ikat; warp painting; using sock blanks; and woven shibori.
